Achilles Tendinopathy is rather debilitating, as I’m a keen weeks warrior of triathlons and running 5/10km. As I get to my mid 30’s, I have noticed that I am gradually getting Achilles tendon tightness. Also, a nagging pain that seems to be there every time I move, walk or run. I have had various physiotherapy treatments over the months but nothing seems to be consistent. One of my running buddies advised me to see Kevin Young at the Egham Acupuncture. He is a chartered physiotherapist but is also a traditional Acupuncturist and Tui Na practitioner. On my first appointment with him, he took a complex western/Chinese history and also carried out a detailed foot posture analysis.Kevin diagnosed me with Achilles Tendinopathy possibly being caused by foot posture abnormalities. I was prescribed with trainer inserts called Orthotics and a prescription of exercises to help strengthen the weakened areas. Also, Kevin mentioned that he has had great success with this condition. Using Traditional Acupuncture with Electro Therapy, he placed some Chinese herbal plasters on the Achilles overnight. Sceptical as I am, I carried out the procedure and had weekly sessions of Acupuncture, electro and heat treatments. Within 3 weeks my problems had diminished to a minor sensation occasionally.I still wear the orthotics in my trainers and truly swear by them. I am happy to say that I can see many years of pain free abuse or running and triathlons. Whatever your issues are, medical or injury, get an appointment with the very experienced and open minded Kevin Young. Thank you very much.BB Ashford Middx.
